A spring loaded cap, fitted to a customised sleeve, is simply placed in the chimney and locked into position.. It is shut by means of a chain that extends through the flue, to the fireplace, where it is secured to a bracket fastened into the forward part of the side fireplace wall.

Yes, Home owners can install the unit themselves. A spring loaded cap, fitted to a customised sleeve, is simply placed in the chimney and locked into position. At the fireside a bracket is attached using two self tapping screws and the last link of the chain is attached to the end of the bracket.
